Windows 8 new install "AutoPARPlgin failure"

Only under Windows 8 not under Windows 7 on the same box, just reinstalled Windows 8 as a secondary OS and while Newsbin works (I actually have winrar installed on both OSes), extracting paprs does not (well the message make it appear that unrar is not present. Tried to reinstall, with the same result. Any ideas?
Note: quickpar works under Windows 8 and can repair the files also if I restart into Windows 7 then it extracts fine, problem only occurs under Windows 8.
