[23:25:10] ERROR InterSocket - Error: Socket Open Failed, Host: 127.0.0.1 Error Code: 10061 No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

Ive been getting loads of these in the log.
i have no host at loopback, i use astraweb, and my isp's servers, all ping with correct address.
I'm running v6.34x64 on x64 windows7

I start getting the errors as soon as NB opens, even with nothing in the que and no open connections...
theres litterallly one error message identical to above every second in logging, how ever if i hide error window I can connect and download normally...

any ideas?

It pretty clearly points to newsbin thinking your local machine is a usenet server and unsuccessfully trying to connect to it. First guess (although you've probably already checked this) is to go through your servers and verify none of them are looking at localhost or specifically 120.0.0.1. After that, it turns into a bad or unusual internet configuration. If you've already picked through everything with a fine toothed comb, then you'll need to simplify. Disable any third party apps related to networking, try bypassing any routers, etc. Frankly, the most likely culprit is the newsbin server config, all newsbin does is try to connect to whatever entry you have in the server address. Verify that the server address in any active servers is correct, not the server *name* - that's a pretty common mistake.

Wonder if it's trying to enable the remote control interface?

Ive gone over the config and all my server settings are in order, checked my hosts file, this is a brand new x64 install of Windows and Newsbin aswell, with fresh configs, oh! remote control is unchecked...
I dont have any weird 3rd party software running, plus a majority of my daily use apps are portable apps these days and just consist of browser, pdf reader, media player and a few other utilities for multimedia...
the error box pops up immediately on load every time, nothing is qued or listed in any tabs, all of them, search downloads , file llist are ussually empty...

AHHA!!! found it!!! growl notification is set to local host but ive not got round to installing growl on the system yet... mighta been nice if the error msg mentioned it was trying to talk to growl....

awesome, case closed..
cheers all.

You can go into the options and disable "Growl". It's under "Notification options.
