Max Retries

Postby rakslice » Sun Aug 12, 2012 5:28 pm

I recently upgraded to NewsBin 6.34 from NewsBin 5.x, and now when I do an NZB-initiated download where parts are unavailable/cancelled so that the assembly can't complete, NewsBin seems to retry forever.

I went to Option->Options->Setup, and saw the "Max Retries" setting, which is described as "Maximum Download Attempts". But with the setting set to 2, a new unassembleable NZB download just ignores that (i.e. I'm looking at it now in the download list, and the status column shows "Retry: 15").

How can I prevent these retries?

How much of the file did you end up with? With retries set to 2, it's try twice and then assemble and try to fix it with pars BUT, it has to have at least 90% of the file on hand before it'll do that (since most PARS cover 10% of missing chunks). It never gives up if it doesn't have enough chunks to repair the files.
