Several items I have noticed.
1. I cant change the order of the newsgroups to separate them how I want to group them.
2. When I am downloading from 1 newsgroup and start searching on another, Newsbin crashes. I just have to restart and it is ok.
3. On v5 I could take a file out of its packed file and download it to preview the file, on this version, I can't.
4. On v5 if I highlighted a group of files, Newsbin told me how many I had selected and how many were left. Not on V6.
5. On v5 newsbin told me if I had selected a file for download even if it was in a different group. Not v6.
6. On V5 newsbin would tell me if I had previously dowloaded a file, even if it wasn't in the same group. Not V6.

I do like the select and download and view and the select and view features. This is where I would like to be able to reorder the groups to how I wan't them organized.
note item#2. I am using windows xp pro with 3G of ram. Maybe it is too much for my page file which causes the program to crash.
note item#3. Found
note item#4. Found
note item#5. Found - shows up as selected in the blue ball to the left.
note item#6. Still haven't found. If I have already downloaded a file in 1 group and it shows up in another group, nothing tells me that it has been downloaded.

1 - Yeah can't. It's been on my todo list for awhile.

2 - Explain how this is happening. I'm not getting any crashing here. Maybe I'm just not working it the way you are.

3 - Add the whole set, right click "sample" then delete it if you don't like what you see. You can still add just some rars if you hit the + and add them individually.

4 - Bottom right. If you're not seeing it, you might need to right click and disable some of the segments in the status bar because your screen res it low.

5 - Not sure what you mean.

6 - Ditto. Downloaded state is stored in a database that's common to all groups.

You can put the groups into different folders named for the topic but, not currently re-order.

It takes approx 5 minutes for a NBI file to load. I have 5 nbi files that I alternate with. I get a Newsbin not responding and then about 5 minutes later, the group count will match the db count and it works. Until then, the two counts don't match. I still have issues with it crashing sometimes (not all the time) when I am downloading group headers. I then have to restart Newsbin and wait for the counts to match again. Another 5 minutes.

How big is your NBI?

How many groups are you tracking?

Are you sure it's the NBI or the download list? If it's the download list, you could try deleting the downloads.db3 which will wipe the download, failed and wish lists.

The nbi's are different sizes. The groups inside the NBI files are from 37 to 75 depending on which NBI I am using. The newest release and build seems to have fixed the loading time and mis-match size issues. The placement of filters on/off is beter as well. I haven't crashed yet with the new build. This seems to be more stable. I have done a group purge to display date and that didn't resolve the issue. I did not try to wipe out the DB3. If the crashing persists, I will try that and rebuild all of the data files. Thanks, Mark

A 5 minute start time won't have anything to do with the groups or the group databases.

If you start it, a progress bar comes up and you have to wait for the progress bar, the download list is where you need to look.

Just curious, why multiple NBI's instead of multiple group topics inside a single NBI?

Multiple NBI files are a habit from earlier Newsbins. That way I could keep the various topics separated and by the time I get to the next NBI in rotation, there is a good possibility that more headers have been added.

By the way, the start times are about 20 seconds now with the new build. Thank you, Mark
I have now gone through all 5 of my nbi files and it hasn't crashed once.
