Cannot delete files from a download set without deleting all

Hi
For a given download set composed of multiple files (rar, par2 and other) it is not possible to delete a single file in that set using the "Delete" key.
If the file download set is expanded, one file is selected and the delete key is pressed. On confirmation the whole set is deleted.
This is rather annoying for very large/almost completed download set.
Version 6.33.1882
Thanks

Why do you need to delete it?

Simple, my download was almost done at that time, and I had enough par2 (but auto par2 disabled).
so, I had enough data to rebuild the missing parts. I thought by deleting the files that would stop the download and then proceed the next download set.
Well, it did proceed the next download set but after deleted everything already downloaded. I had the delete confirmation box but "Delete from Download list" wasn't clear that it would delete the whole set and not the 2 files I selected.
Thanks

You can't. One option would be to add them split. For example if you hit the + icon to expand a compacted set in the post list (search, NZB or posts), you can then add the set as individual files.

Ok, fair enough. So in that case, could it be possible to clarify the warning in the message box please ?
At least, I've learned the lesson on this one

Another option some of the non-autopar users like is to not add pars to the download queue by default and have them sent to the wish list by default. That way you can micro-manage to your heart's content. I'm pretty sure your release has that option.
As far as a warning, I've always felt newsbin should just not let you do the operation. That's probably more work than a message, though, and really this is one of those things you learn once and never forget. You can always re-add - it's not like you're permanently destroying something.

I just has this happen the other day - auto-load takes all the PARs and went to delete a few extra .par files and BAM, hammer to the head by deleting all undownloaded files *and* all previously downloaded files - and they weren't even in the Recycle Bin, just vanished like they had never existed.
Why that "delete everything" hammer is even a default in the program is beyond me.

Actually you are, as it permanently deletes any previously downloaded files too - I had that happen yesterday with a 6+ GB download - it just vanished into the ether and I had to re-download 6GB again.

It's too bad they all were deleted but, there's a warning that comes up every time you delete from the download list and some of the files have already downloaded. The only time I delete from the download list is when I sample and don't want what's downloading (German porn anyone?). In that case I want it to cleanup the partial downloads I'll never use.

No offense, but this is pretty specific and harsh option for the "greater user base" to deal with - I'm a pretty advanced PC user and it caught me last night. I didn't even understand what exact information the warning button was trying to convey.
If it had said "Do you want to delete all previously downloaded files?" I would have clicked NO in a heartbeat.

It said "Do you want to delete the partial downloads". You said yes.
Basically you're trying to us version 5 methods with version 6. That's not how V6 is intended to be used. I assume that you want to download, repair if necessary and unrar the files. That's what the vast majority if people expect from Newsbin and that's what it's written to do. I'm not trying to tell you how to use it but, that's how it was written to work.
It works differently, there's a bit of a learning curve. If you want Newsbin to download and unrar the files for you, just add the entire set and stand back. Most of the time it downloads either none or just enough pars to repair. Sometimes it downloads more if something unexpected happens with the set. You seem to want to micromanage this process and that's not how it was designed to work.

Of course, and any file I *partially* downloaded I wanted deleted as there were only 2-3 incompletes that I would reload. But I now understand that V6 views everything as a "group", and then assumes that if you fully downloaded RAR to R061 (99% of that group) then those 62 complete and 100% verified files on your HD are somehow a "partial download" and it proceeded to delete 6GB of individual RAR files.
I hope you can understand someone who has only run V3, V4 and V5 of Newsbin not understanding the quantum shift of V6. There are no RAR files in V6, only "groups".

Yeah, RAR files are just temp files to V6. Files to be processed and deleted.
There's actually a mode in 6.4B5 where you leave AutoPAR on, but, disabled unraring and then set it to remove the files from the download list after repair. It's for the collectors out there that collect rar sets. That sounds a bit like you.

That's interesting (though I didn't see that option when I went though the V6 options), as that would clear up one issue (I'm not a collector, just someone who doesn't want or need auto-RAR), and if you update V6 to allow manual group sorting (that's a biggie for me, as I have a LOT of groups that need sorting) then I may give V6 another shot.
But with no group sorting whatsoever, that made a V5 downgrade automatic. The rest I can possibly live with, like the Search tab and Groups (again, if you can disable auto-RAR, while mainlining auto-PAR).

I also think that deleting a specific file should be returned back. If I can't do anything to specific files, and only to download sets, why can I even select a file and not always a download set instead.
this used to work really intuitively. Not really sure why fix something that wasn't broken to begin with...
