Manually merge PAR+files

Is there a way to highlight and manually merge PARs with the related files, when Newsbin doesn't see the connection between them automatically? e.g. PAR+FLAC? I see the PARs are all tucked together under one "heading", but the related files aren't, and this is causing AutoPar to the files are missing, and downloads all the PARs needlessly.

I think that such a feature could be very useful; I have a lot of problems with AutoPar, which I think may be related to Newsbin not always grouping the PAR files with the RAR files.

In 6.33, par only groupings will download all the pars. In 6.40 it downloads the first par, shows par status, then waits for more data to download.

I don't really have a problem with split pars but, for things to work best, you really want the pars to download before the data file.

I'm not saying no to your idea. I'm saying that it should work with or without the combining. I actually have a "manually combine" in my todo list. I just haven't written it yet.

I'm currently on the 6.40 B2 build, and I found I had to check "Disable AutoPar" and "Move PARs to Wishlist" because too often, all the PARs still get downloaded. This is mainly true when the PAR base filenames don't match the actual files they are protecting. PAR+FLAC is the most frequent occurence.

This doesn't matter. Newsbin doesn't use the filename of the PARs for anything meaningful. It looks in the PARS, extracts the actual filenames and even then, it doesn't use the filenames for the files. It ID's the files based on something called a "16K hash" which is like Newsbin signature checker. I'm not saying you don't have a problem but, filenames are unlikely to be the problem. PAR was designed to work, no matter what the filename is.

Disabling autopar for sure will make it download all the pars.

If you PM me the subject of this set, I'll try it with B3.

I've noticed in 6.40B3, the PARS seem to start out paused (sometimes, but not always). But later, they all unpause and start downloading, even when all the FLACs have not all yet been downloaded.

Yeah saw that too with your sample. Was trying to figure out why. Suggests that par processing is getting the files too early.
