"Add NZB Folder to Download Folder" option not working

"Add NZB Folder to Download Folder" option not working

Postby nallej » Mon May 28, 2012 11:00 am

My download folder is: D:\Incoming\Newsbin
My autoload folder is: D:\Tmp\Blackhole\Sickbeard\

I have checked the "Add NZB Folder to Download Folder" option

However, the nzb folder is never created (should be "Sickbeard", right?), all downloaded files always end up straight in the download folder. Is this a bug, or did I misunderstand how this is supposed to work?

This is version: 6.32: 00 57 2E AD 61 D6

Thanks!

Actually it does appear that things are a little pooched, now you mention it. I'm testing it now, and what it does for me is create a 'Loaded' folder in your download area by default and dumps it there, *unless* the download folder is a subfolder inside the *primary* autodownload folder, where it behaves like it used to(i.e. <default autoload>/Sickbeard creates a <default download>/Sickbeard). I would expect Newsbin to snag the name of the autoload folder (in your case, Sickbeard) and use that. It looks like it's using where it dumps the nzb after processing instead. Doh. It's a holiday in the states today but I'm sure Quade will take a look when he's back. At the very least I would consider this unexpected.

You can always bypass the problem for now by specifying the output folder explicitly.

BTW, the Add Folder to Download Folder is unrelated to all this - it merely puts whatever you're downloading into a further subfolder based on the name of the nzb.

Now I'm a bit confused :)

Yes, it creates a "Loaded" folder in my autoload (not download) folder and moves the processed nzb:s there, but that's expected and ok with me.

However, no folder is created in my download folder, I expected a folder with the same name as the folder containing the nzb to be created for the downloads. Isn't that what's supposed to happen when you use the "Add NZB Folder to Download Folder" option?

Seems like it's working for this guy:

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=30111

BTW, also tested with version 6.40B2: 00 7B 2E AD 61 D6

Well, first off, that thread is about an older version which didn't have the ability to add autodownload folders in the GUI. You simply made a subfolder in the autodown folder, and it would automatically mirror that in the download. You couldn't assign a completely unique autoload location like you can now. FWIW, the old system still works fine.

The 'Loaded' subfolder *is* OK in the autodownload folder, agreed, but what I was saying was that I'm getting a Loaded folder being made in the *download* folder, too. That doesn't seem correct to me, anyway. This happens when you assign a completely new autoload location, away from the one defined in options. Again, forget the Add NZB folder to Download Folder option - it does work, but it literally makes a folder, *after* all the download folder processing, based on the name of the nzb. It's completely unrelated to this. It's been there for ages, long before autodownload offshoot folders were introduced. You're just going to have to take my word on this.

Your expectation of what you want is correct, that's how it should work. It *does* work if you use autodownload folders *inside* the permanent autodownload folder(the older method). You can also make it work with the new method where you add them in the main GUI, but it appears that for now you'll need to explicitly set the target location to download in the properties to get your expected result, until Quade can look at this.

Ah, I haven't tried the "new method" yet, where in the GUI do you configure that? I only have the option of a single Autoload NZB Path under "NZB Files" dialog? This is with 6.40B2

Anyway, I read your post again and solved my problem by making my autoload folder a subfolder of my download folder, works now!

Thanks!

If you look in the groups tab, at the top there's NZB Autoload Folders. Right click and you can make custom ones there...
