Blocking a certain poster

Is there a way to prevent the down loading of headers from certain posters when you update the groups?

I now use "Delete all posts from poster" but that's a little of a hassle.

Thanks

There's currently no way to block a specific poster during header download. I can consider it for the future. You can generate a filter profile and assign it to the group (manually) to filter out subject and size but, not poster. You can hide the poster with the right click "Lockout Poster/Lockout poster". It works but, it's not as efficient at "Delete all Posts by poster".

I'll have to think about it.

Quade,

I was just thinking it would be easier not to download the spammers in the first place.

I do know that they like to change their Email address a little to fool things!

Thanks

Nothing, I mean nothing prevents spammers from using the "From" of a valid poster. That's why automating this is dangerous. You can easily filter out regular posters if you're not careful.

If you get this poster filter wrong, your only choice will be to re-download headers. If you let them download and clean them out after the fact, you're less likely to kill valid posts. That's neither here nor there and won't prevent me from parhaps implementing a poster killer BUT, it's something you need to keep in mind. Personally, I'd rather see the spamers and perhaps kill them a little at a time than run the risk of missing valid posts.
