to say it gently : wtf...

wtf with this app which can meanwhile cook eggs but at the end not correctly do what's it's supposed to do


was downloading some 10gig file and completed at something like 7-8 gigs

i needed to reboot my pc, so i cleanly closed newsbin, rebooted and restarted it

the download started from scratch..

seriously what the hell with such bullshit ? how can such shit be even possible ?

isn't the first thing to check if *maybe..* files aren't already there ? jesus

Offhand it sounds like you didn't actually let Newsbin shut down cleanly. Be aware that when the window closes, Newsbin still has behind the scenes cleaning up to do, including writing out buffers when it can and saving things like the download queue, which could conceivably be quite large - you don't say one way or the other. You do, however cuss a lot and make threats. Maybe a more civil approach might help you get to the bottom of the problem quicker? But, whatever works for you.

Quitting Newsbin is indeed supposed to save the current queue, so something went wrong, as opposed to 'that's what happens'.

What version are you using?

By default, current Newsbin (6.21 for sure and newer) will re-download the first chunk of every file in the download list and then check the disk to see if the file is there. If it is, it feeds the existing file into autopar. This works if you have downloaded at least one PAR file with the set. I restart large downloads all the time to check this.

Might be worth exiting and wiping the Autopar2.db3 file and maybe even the downloads.db3 if the download list is empty. This might not work if autopar2.db3 is damaged.
