Hi,
last month I posted a question in alt.binaries.dvd.classics concerning some stuff that had been uploaded there.
Several people answered to this and discussed the matter further, using my original subject line with "RE:" prefix.
The mistery now is that newsbin doesn't show me posts from ths discussion that had been made after november 4th,
while another newsreader does.
And yes, of course I did update the group in newsbin, and other postings that were made after november 4th do appear.
What can be the reason? Is it related to newsbin not supporting threading of posts (as I read in the help)? I'm not quite sure what that means (it's still not my native language).Does this refer only to the way the postings can be displayed or does it explain that some postings can't be found at all?

I expect that the files are being hidden due to the minimum size filter. You should see the files if you disable the Newsbin filters.

Thanks for replying, but no, that's not the reason, filters already were disabled.

Text posts tend to all get lumped together in one entry because they all have the same subject. If I had to guess, that's what I'd guess.

But the text posts that other newsreader shows me from dates > november 4th don't appear at all in newsbin
(also not as part or "appendix" of an earlier dated post).
Can it be a reason that I still use an .nbi file that was originally created with a 5.xx version?

I'm not sure what you're expecting. Newsbin has never been particularly good at text posting or text reading.

I know handling text messages is not the software's purpose, still I'm wondering why some postings don't
appear at all in the header list.
Can it be that old 5.xx .nbi messes some things up here?
does it make sense to reinstall and try with a fresh .nbi?

I'll see if I can tell what's going on with this.
