how do I reload specific files?

can't figure out how to redownload a specific file. Tried deleting from my hard drive and 'bypass filter' for selected file in download list, but it does not redownload it. Trying to redo a couple of files that are possibly corrupt and are keeping video from extracting.

What happens when you try to re-download them? I'd delete the damaged ones from disk first.

as stated, I did delete file from disk...

then tried highlighting in NB and right click 'bypass filter'...

nothing appeared to happen, status remaining downloaded

I think you nmay eed to remove them from the Download queue and re-add them! Not sure whether moving them to the wish list and back is enough?

not sure how one would do that.

It is very rare that I need to redownload files, but does occasionally happen. It would be nice to have an easy way to do so.

I use NZBmatrix to obtain NZBs (currently down for upgrades). I usually just get a new NZB from there with only the specific files in them. It is a feature on that site that you can do (build NZB from file list). Since it is down for a couple of days, I tried to just redownload using NB, but could figure out how to do it.

I have since then managed to get the AVI in question to extract. Redownloaded the NZB and restarted the whole thing. Being bandwidth challenged, hoped to avoid that approach. It extracted quickly though and I just cancelled the rest.

That's what par files are for.

Newsbin's not designed to make this easy because you shouldn't have to normally. If you want to control what you re-download though, save the NZB, load it using the load NZB button on the toolbar, then expand out the list of files (+-) and then add just the ones you want to re-download. You will have to clear them out of the download list first. It's not clear to me why you think a re-download will work any better than the original download though. If anything, the quality of the downloads gets worse with time unless you add another, better server that has more of the parts.

Quade, thanks. Tried your instructions (had never done that way) and that works for me.

Reason I redownload is that on the few occasions I have had extraction failures, if I redownload the corrupted files, it almost always fixes. I have always assumed that the corrupted files were corrupted during download, so redoing would fix.

Suggests something on your PC is messing with the download. Like your virus scanner.

forgot to comment on your 'that's what PARs are for' statement.
I knew that, but occasionally they aren't quite enough. This most recent problem was 3 blocks shy of repairable.

I only use MS security essentials.

And as I think I have said before, problem is very rare.
