I am unsure how long this has been going on but probably 6-8 weeks~ish. When I download/ update newsgroup I get a critical error message popping up.
Downloads and updates complete but I keep getting these messages.
Any one got any idea what is happening and how I can fix it?

I am using Win7 64bit, newshosting servers. I have set the connections at 10 and am using ssl with port 563.
Force Group selection and Disable XFeatures are both not set.
Today's message states:

What virus scanner are you using? Avast is known to cause this.

Never thought to mention my AV software. I am using KIS 2012 (Kaspersky).

I mean there can be other causes to like router crashes and the like. I've had many people report that telling their V scanners and firewalls to ignore usenet traffic has made this stuff go away though. If you're using Wifi, it might just be normal. Someone uses the microwave and knocks you off for a few minutes.

Thanks Quade. You hit the nail on the head. It was KIS2012.

Under Application Rules, I changed "Do not scan any network traffic" to "Do not scan encrypted traffic" and the problem has gone away.
