Temp directory

Postby sunrise » Mon Sep 19, 2011 11:40 am

Hello.

Where is the temporary directory in Newsbin V6. I see in the option the downloaded directory, but not the temporary directory? Are you using a folder on the C drive?

I have a ssd for c and dont want that the downloaded files use this drive as temp?

Thanks for answer.

Newsbin has a temp folder in the data folder but, it doesn't use it for much. Files are downloaded to the actual download folder, not the temp folder. That said, you might want to move the whole data folder to the other drive. If you use headers though, having the header DB on an SSD really improves performance.

Use the "Open Data Folder" button to open the data folder and see what's there.

Version 6 is twice as fast as version 5 on a high speed connection. 5 sort of topped out at about 200ish and 6 will do 400-500 Mbps assuming your connection and PC are up to it. Because of that, there's no way I could write to a temp folder and move it over to the final drive. In fact, in 6, you can set it to download the file into RAM and then write the whole thing out in one go so, there's no fragmentation.
