V6 upgrade question

I've been using 5.59 for quite a while. It's working great for me. I am interested in upgrading to V6, but I'm concerned about the conversion of my existing headers. I have 19+ gb of headers but only 9 gb free space on my main drive. Is it going to be able to convert the headers to the v6 format? Can I specify to use another drive? Or will I have to have an equal free space on the drive to do the conversion?

edit: another thought, can I move the headers to another drive, upgrade, and then import the headers?

Thanks

The process for telling Newsbin to use a different drive for its DATA folder is the same for v5 and v6. It is documented here in the User Guide.

So I guess the easiest solution is to relocate the headers before upgrade.

Thanks

You are probably right. It also sounds as it might be a good idea to get the headers off your main drive anyway.

The only other thing to think about is whether you want to take the headers forward at all as it will take a while (hours) to convert 19GB of headers. You might simply decide to start v6 by setting it to initially only download headers from the recent past, and then build up your spool going forward.
