download RAR without PAR files

After selecting something to download in compact view, the entire set of RAR and PAR files appeared in the download window. I tried to remove just PAR files from download list, but could not remove them. Despite not having check marks next to PAR files in the download window, they were still downloaded. I then tried to move PAR files off download list (i.e. to wish list), but the whole set including RAR files were moved. How can I download just RAR without PAR files?

Newsbin won't actually download the pars unless it needs them. The recommended workflow is to just add the lot, and let it do it's thing.

If you expand the listing in the post list, you can add just the RARS if that's what you want to do. Otherwise, it's what D says.

The intent is you add the set, Newsbin checks everything out, repairs and optionally unrars.

In that case I must be doing something wrong in the setting. It's downloading all the PAR files regardless of need. If it indeed only downloads PAR files when needed, does it download just enough to repair the RAR files, or it downloads all PAR files anyways?

In the 6.0 release if you have autopar disabled then all the PAR2 files will be downloaded.

If it is enabled then it should only download enough PAR2 files to effect a repair. If you do not want Newsbin to unpack the files then you can leave aAutoPar enabled, but set the option to not decode the files

I've run into a couple sets of files over the past couple days where the PAR files were simply bad. If you load one of these pars into QuickPAR and it doesn't list any files, then the PARS are bad. Newsbin downloads them all trying to find a good PAR. Then turns on the downloads for the rest of the files.

I use NB 6.0 Build 1019
NB downloads every par file -- no matter if AutoPAR is enabled or not. It even downloads PAUSED pars. The only way to prevent NB from downloading the complete pars is to wait until it starts to download the pars and then pause the partly downloaded pars.
I already deleted AutoPAR2.db3 and Downloads.db3.

Exit Newsbin, delete "Autopar2.db3" then try again with autopar enabled.

Did you check the par files?

I deleted the DB3 -- no effect.
All pars were/are OK.

But...
I started some new downloads, NB did not actualize the download and file lists, but these files were downloaded correctly.
Restarting NB: NB actualizes the lists, new downloads are OK, just the downloads in the wish list (added there when AutoPar was disabled) show still this problem.

I'd give 6.01B5 a try and see if you have the same symptoms.
