Howdy,

I'm having difficulty downloading headers from the Agent Premium News server using
Newsbin 6.01.

I am able to retrieve older headers which I've downloaded weeks ago.
However, I have been unable to download new headers for the last few weeks.
I am running Windows 7 64 Bit and Newsbin 6.01B1: 00 67 DA 1A 61 E6 64 bit

This is the error message which I've received:

[06:08:34] ERROR Socket - Error: WSARecv Socket Error Code: 10060

Any assistance would be
appreciated.

Thank You!

In the server options try "Disable XFeatures" and see if the symptoms change. "Disable Xfeatures" turns off compression which means the header download reverts to just text. A V scanner should pass the text on without blocking.

This might indicate a server problem or might indicate a problem with your virus scanner terminating the connection because it doesn't like something in the data. If you can use SSL, I'd give SSL a try. Someone reported something similar the other day with one of the servers I use and I couldn't reproduce it. We sort of came to the conclusion that something on his PC was blocking it. I suggest using SSL because SSL will often hide the data from the V scanner.

It might be worth switching off the X-Features under Options->Network in case that server has a problem handling compressed headers in a manner compatible with Newsbin.

Howdy,

Thanks for the advice Quade and itimpi!

Disabling the X-Features solved the problem.

Have a nice weekend!
