Internet Search by poster - a gap - posts disappeared

Postby RayMark » Sun Dec 03, 2017 3:16 am

There is a gap of the last few days currently in the Internet Search results when searching by poster.
The gap extends from 2017-11-26 to 2017-12-02. The newest posts of 2017-12-02 are present, perhaps part of 2017-11-25 posts is also missing.
Anyway, I see posts up to and including 2017-11-25 and then again 2017-12-02.

I tried with 3 different posters. Restarted NewsBin. Updated NewsBin to beta 12. The same gap.

What is interesting, some of those now missing posts were previously returned by the Internet search by poster, I have even downloaded them. I have downloaded some posts from 2017-12-01, it seems.
But later ones are completely missing - part of 2017-12-01 - 2017-12-02. And of course, 5 or 6 days of previously shown posts are also now gone.

The same missing posts are returned by the search by subject, though.
So those missing posts are still in your Internet Search DB.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult or even impossible to predict the subjects of some of those missing posts.
Even when it is possible, it requires multiple searches.
So please, can you fix this issue?

Again, the posts are still in your DB and most of them were previously shown when searching even by poster. My search strings did not change. And the newest posts are again shown correctly.

OK, so I think I got all the posts from those three posters by subject search - this time.
But it is very unsettling - if there are more such gaps or if such gaps may appear in the future - I may not even notice the gaps - posts may be missed

The issue still not fixed.
The posts from the day range 2017-11-26 - 2017-12-02 (or partially 2017-11-25 - 2017-12-03) are still missing in the search by poster results. But they are shown when searching by subject, so they are available in the database used by the search engine, therefore the issue can be fixed

I just mentioned it to Dex. He'll have to take a look.

Ah, I see. There was an indexing failure on the Poster index back on Nov 25. Subject index did not have an issue.

I've re-indexed and they are all showing up now.

Good eye, thanks for pointing it out.
