Malformed database disk image file - storage.db3

Postby Moondawgie » Thu Dec 08, 2016 5:45 pm

I noticed that one of the newsgroups which I'm subscribed to with Newsbin (Version 6.73B4 Build 4817) wasn't showing posts for the last 7 days. Being one of the most active newsgroups I suspected that there was a problem, and used the SQLite3 "Pragma integrity_check" command to check that's newsgroup's Newsbin database files. The StorageData.db3 file checked okay, but the Storage.db3 file drew the error of "database disk image is malformed".

The output was as follows:

Code: Select all

Can the damaged Storage.db3 file be repaired or recreated, or must I delete all of that newsgroup's files, and download headers from scratch?

If the Storage.db3 file can be repaired or recreated, how would I do so?

Thank you.

It's toast. I don't believe it can be repaired. You might be able to "dump" is and get some of the data out of it. You're better off just downloading headers.

if you just purge and set a shortish "download age" you won't have to download that much.
