General question about retries

I just have a general question about retries...

I noticed that Newsbin seems to retry downloads a lot... If parts of a post are missing what is the reason why a retry would ever work?

Should I let Newsbin try and try again to get the download for awhile? Or should i just delete the post if I see it's missing stuff?

Not really sure what is going on with NNTP that would recover the post over time.
