Using the View drop-down I have previously been able to enable/disable various panes
Currently I find that some will not close when the X is clicked.
Thumbnails & Image Dbase I'd had closed, today I opened them & now they will not close.
I find the tabs for servers etc which are listed alongside thumbs will not close on X now either.
Search results, group headers will close, image Dbase will not
Tried a restart - no effect
NBP 6.55 b3334 W7 x64
Any ideas?

Is the "Lock" icon clicked? It disables many changes to the GUI.

Doh! yep thats it! 
I thought that was for positioning of panes only & didn't try it.
