What happened to .nfo, .srr, .sfv in 6.52?

Postby wngnt » Tue Jul 22, 2014 1:14 am

Not that I even looked at them (read the .nfo occasionally) but they provided some visual padding between files in the 'Subject' column for downloaded files from the one group that I use. There are no filters set any where that I can find that would cause this NEW behaviour.

Upgraded from ?? to 6.52 and now only .nzb and .rar are listed and my old eyes find it very difficult to sort through the compressed file list.

They're included in the grouped files now.

You know, you can change the font for the lists right? It's in the options.

This change now downloads files I don't want and forces me to manually delete them.

The resulting clutter in my download directories has become a major issue.

Many .NFO files contain little or no useful information. If they do, I download & keep them. If not, I don't bother.

I never use .SRR & .SFV, so I don't download them at all (unless using an .NZB and then I delete them upon completion).

Please consider options to delete or retain these files during the housekeeping process where .rar & .par files are deleted upon successful completion of a download.

If that option already exists, please direct me to where I might change it to suit my needs.

Thanks for creating and supporting such a wonderful program.

From the Beta forum (not sure if you have access) Quade says:

Probably the easiest way to filter them is to add a couple filters to the "Global" filter in the filename reject section.

[.]srr$
[.]sfv$
[.]nfo$

and so on. If you don't have a "Global" filter, just add one. It applies to all downloads.

The reason they're all compacted together now is that a "Ctrl-R" will pull information out of all the files to try to help you ID the contents of obscurely named file sets.

Thanks Quade. I didn't know that - just tried it and it is a bit better.

Ditto on the THANKS Quade. (And Jackholexxx for the referral.)

I've rarely bothered to use filters and should have figured that out on my own.

Thanks again.

Hi,

I added a post rar filter and added filename reject entries for nfo, sfv and srr files. The nfo and sfv files are removed after extraction but not the srr files. Am I doing it correct by placing the entries in the filename reject tab of the filter?

I have the same problem with the post unrar filter. You can use the global filter to get rid of them. See instructions a few posts above.

I don't want to exclude NFO files from being downloaded, but I do NOT want them as part of the compacted lines.

Not only does it help to provide visual padding, but it makes it easy to see which posts come with NFO files, as well as to grab info from them.

Is there any way to keep NFO files outside the compaction? If not, I'd like to request a config setting to do so.

I ditto this comment and request as far as NFO files are concerned.
