UnRAR bug with 6.51 RC1

Postby violator » Thu Feb 20, 2014 10:47 pm

No problem with non-passworded archives: they're unrar'ed in the "UnRAR Folder".

However, since a few builds, with passworded archives, files are ALWAYS unrar'ed in the "Download Folder", for an unknown reason.

Are you downloading them the same way? Password or no shouldn't matter to the unrar path.

I'll have to think about if there's some connection.

Yes, I'm downloading them the exact same way...

In fact, I'm not sure anymore if it's when files are password protected or not... But one thing's for sure, today, all my downloads unrar'ed in the Download folder instead of the UnRAR Folder specified, where it used to UnRAR before...

How are you adding the NZB's? Double-clicking, drag and drop or the auto-load NZB folder?

Double-clicking... (always did that and it used to work)

Do you have the "Use UnRAR path" checked in the options and if yes, did you set an unrar path? What is it?

If no, what's the download path set to?

If you're trying to download to a path with the NZB filename in it, $(NZBFILE) needs to be in the download path or in the unrar path (but, probably not both places). If you don't set an unrar path, it'll unrar to the same folder it downloaded to. If the download path has $(NZBFILE) in it, it'll add the name of the NZB file to the path.

I tried unchecking the UnRAR Folder box, checking it again, changing it...

It's still unrar'ing to E:\download\usenet\$(FILENAME)...

1 - Changing the path options ONLY applies to files newly added to the download list. Files already in the list, already have download and unrar paths set. Changing the options won't change this.

2 - If you're using NZBFiles $(FILENAME) is probably not what you want. I'd change it to $(NZBFILE) instead. The problem with "$(FILENAME)" is that Newsbin can't always find the filename in the subject.

3 - Using that unrar path, set like that, will dump all the unrared files into a single folder. I don't think that's what you want.

How about trying this:

- Set the NZB DownloadPath to "C:\Download\Usenet\" - keep it checked (that's the second path).

- Set the UnRAR Path to C:\morbz\files\$(NZBFILE)\.

- Add a new set to download to the top of the download list.

- Let it download a little, hit the pause button, then right click "Properties" then examine the paths it'll show you.

These settings will download all the NZB File downloads to a common folder, but, will unrar them to the Morbs path with the name of the NZB File in the path.

Sorry to say, I followed your instructions, but when password-protected, it's still unrar'ing to my download folder.

When I right click then look at the Properties, the UnRAR path is really the download folder instead of the UnRAR folder.

This behavior appeared in one of the last 2-3 builds. Never had this problem before...

So, my download path is:
X:\Download\$(FILENAME)\

My UnRAR Path is:
X:\UnRAR\$(NZBFILE)\

I let some of the file download then checked the unrar folder in properties.

X:\UnRAR\Passworded{{Join bd25.eu - free registration - GJI332xiu}}\

Is what it's showing.

Then I restarted Newsbin and repeated. It's still showing the correct download and unrar path.

At this point I can't reproduce it. How about trying what I did, stop it when it's only downloaded a couple megs, then check.

I'm doing this with 6.51RC2 which is in the forum.

I'm going to look deeper. It stores the unrar path in the downloads.db3 file. I wonder if it might be worth deleting that file. This will wipe the downloads, wish and failed list.
