Typically, and especially after an upgrade, this means your software firewall is blocking Newsbin off the internet.

I'm assuming it worked, you upgraded and it stopped working. If that's not the sequence, it might be something else.

i'm getting the same exact error message with astraweb and newsbin 6.51b3

i've tried to disable microsoft antivirus as well as windows firewall but it still comes up. it comes up right after newsbin fails to completely download all headers. newsbin tries to download the headers again but then the error reappears. i've tried clearing out the spool folder. sometimes the error also comes up when downloading files, though it's random.

Are you sure it's not a timeout message? AW is prone to timeout errors on connections. Typically, Newsbin just re-connects and continues the download.

it comes up right after newsbin fails to completely download all headers.

How many connections are you using to the server? As an experiment I'd try 10 or less. Because AW is prone to these disconnects, it can toss you over your connection limit.

How about cutting and pasting some of the errors into your next post. There are errors that are somewhat expected and some that shouldn't happen at all. I'd like to look at yours and judge. Just select some error likes then hit Ctrl-C. Then this post and Ctrl-V to paste them.
