I am using 6.42 and if I exit newsbin none of the files in my download list or failed files list are saved, when i restart newsbin everything is clear, any help would be appreciated. TIA

Typically that means one of two things - Newsbin isn't quitting properly and is being somehow terminated abnormally, or you lack permissions to save your data files. When you quit Newsbin, it saves out the state of the download list then, if anything gets in the way, you'll get your behaviour.

Things to try - if you upgraded from a pre-vista OS it's common to have areas you expect to use that you don't have permission to write to. Check the location of the data folder(look in options and hit 'show data folder') and ensure you have write permissions there. Typically it should be somewhere in C:\Users\myuseraccount.

If you know permissions are OK, try disabling any and all antivirus or other 'net nannies'. Sometimes they get between Newsbin and the OS and kill it at inopportune times.

You might try deleting the file "Downloads.db3" too. I suspect Dthor is correct though and it's a file permissions problem.
