Default at startup

I switched to a new computer with windows 8 pro with NewsBin 6.40 build 2059.
This is what I have been using on my win 7 machine with no problems.
Now everything works except when I start Newsbin it defaults to the logging tab and I cannot get the connections tab will not open automatically.
On my old machine Newsbin would default to Downloading Files and the connections tab is open.
I have tried saving the config. file with Downloading Files tab selected and the connections tab open but it won't stay. I have replaced the data folder contents with the contents from my win. 7 machine. I have checked paths and they are the same.
Except for these 2 items NewsBin works great.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like maybe Newsbin can't write to the data folder. The display layout stuff isn't in the configuration, it's in a file called "Workspace.xml" in the data folder. Might be a good idea to delete workspace.xml and see if Newsbin can re-create it when it exits.
