6.40 GOG Folder not working

Postby BillyUK » Thu Oct 11, 2012 6:37 am

I've just updated to 6.40 but downloads from a Group of Groups are now going to the individual folders instead of the GOG folder.
Is there a way to turn it back to downloading to the GOG folder?

What do you have the path set to?

$(GROUP) is the group

$(GOG) for the parent

The main download folder is set to \Newsbin\$(GROUP)\
I've not altered the download path in years

I think if you simply change "$(GROUP)" to "$(GOG)" it'll so what you want. Click the edit button next to the path, then double-click "$(GOG)" and remove $(GROUP).

OK I've did that now All are going into GOGs even if opened as a single group tab.
Before if I clicked a download in a GOG it would go to a folder named after the GOG.
If I clicked a download in a single group tab even if it was part of a GOG it would download into a folder named after the single group name.
This has worked for years but it's not working as before in 6.40

Yeah it's different. I was just talking to Dex about this because it's a behavior change.

I'll look into about changing it for 6.41

This seemed to have been resolved in 6.41 but has returned in 6.42 :-(
Can you look at this again please
Thanks

What is the download path set to? Are you sure there isn't one set for that group?

The Download path is set to C:\Newsbin\$(GROUP)\
What ever you changed in 6.41 seemed to fix this issue but now it's back in 6.42 :(

individual folders

What kind of individual folders? You've not really explained the problem in a way I understand.

Sorry I'll try to explain a bit better.
Say I set up a GOG called "PICS"
In that GOG I have a.b.pics1 a.b.pics2 a.b.pics3 & a.b.pics4
If I load the GOG and download a file it WOULD go to a folder called "PICS"
Now it will download the file to a.b.pics 1,2,3, or 4 depending on which group the file is in.
This is what was happening in 6.40 but seemed to be fixed in 6.41
I hope this is a better.
Thanks

That's because you told it to use the group name.

$(GROUP) = Abbreviated group.
$(LONGGROUP) = Full group name.
$(GOG) = The name of the parent of the groups.

Seems to me you want $(GOG) instead of $(GROUP).

If I change it to $(GOG) then I get the opposite problem that all files go to that GOG folder.
Using the above example. If I expand the GOG "PICS" but only load a.b.pics4 then a file goes to PICS instead of a.b.pics4
I've been using Newsbin for about 8 years and this has never been a problem.
Previously. If I load a GOG and download a file it went to a folder for that GOG.
If I load a single group from a GOG and download a file it went to a folder for that single group.
