Bad YEnc Format - Which wasn't

Postby far canal » Thu Jan 31, 2013 10:06 am

I've been having all kinds of problems recently.

Posts that won't assemble/combine at all. Rars are not being assembled when they're incomplete, but for some reason NB downloads all the pars and does nothing with them.

Had this message just now -

[12:18:43] HIGH Decode Block - DecodeYenc - Bad YEnc Format: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.part088.rar

Used Quickpar to check out the download - nothing wrong and I was able to assemble the post without a problem.

I'm using 2132 and getting fed up with it.
I get my NZB's from the only free site left.

Newsbin pretty much ignores bad yEnc format. That's just a informational message because the yEnc CRC's can't be trusted. So basically, what I'm saying is that the yEnc format errors have nothing to do with your problem.

If it's not assembling automatically, it's either because it's not finished retrying. The default is 2 retries, or it doesn't think it has enough of the file. It assembles once it has 90% of the data downloaded. I'm unclear what you mean about "assembling". To me, "Assembling" means taking all the file chunks and turning them into a file. I suspect you mean "UnRARing" which is the process of turning RAR files into the actual download.

If it downloads everything and doesn't unrar, and quickpar says everything is good, then the problem is not assembling but, unraring. It's assembling the files properly.

Is that what you're reporting, that the files are perfect but, they won't unrar?

Your symptoms sort of suggest autopar is disabled. Do you see the par blocks count up while you download? You should see this on the download list item.

I'm getting both unrar problems and assembly problems with incompletes.

NewsBin is setup on default, I tend not to fiddle around with things. Assembly is set at 2 retries.

I had one rar that didn't assemble today that only had 1 chunk out of 100 (or more) missing. I had to tell NewsBin to assemble the rar. Then NewsBin downloading the necessary Par to complete the post, and finished the job.

Another separate post was complete, no problems with any of the rars, but NewsBin didn't unrar into the image file. I had to do it manually.

I have noticed that the par blocks count isn't always correct. I've no idea what's going on there. Is NewsBin counting the Pars as part of the complete post? I'm not on a fast connection and I've been creating NZB's excluding the pars, as I've no wish to downloaded 500Mb of unnecessary par blocks with every post and adding 30 minutes to every post.

It appears I might be the only one with these problems. It wouldn't be the first time. I've just updated to the latest release candidate and in a few weeks I expect to be running Win 7, which may solve or create more problems!
