MBps = Megabytes per second?

MBps is an abbreviation for Megabytes per second.
Mbps is an abbreviation for Megabits per second.

Down on the bottom left hand corner of Newsbin ( sorry, can't put up a screen shot, key not working) it indicates these numbers, but I think something is off.
My MBps indicates 30, which would be 30 Megabytes per second. I can tell you that is wrong. My connection only gets max of 6.5 MBps. Maybe I'm reading it wrong. Is that right?

That figure could be correct if you are downloading headers as it is measuring the effective data rate. If the server supports header compression, then the effective data rate can be up to 10 times the actual physical rate.

When downloading files the figures should match the physical limits.

Ok thanks. I just never seen that before. 31 MB/sec is a huge speed increase from my little 6.5 MB/sec. Thanks for the explanation.
