Any way to DL more than 10million headers without 'all'?

Postby PartyRambo » Tue Dec 18, 2012 1:16 am

I'm using NBPro 6.41RC1 (just upgraded from 5.55), on Giganews.
I tried DLing all headers for a.b.multimedia - and after about 30 hours of DLing, got just the year 2009.
The spool file was 6 GB, and I just don't know how many headers (billions?).

Because it was SO clunky - took around 2 hours just to add a filter or sort by a column, I gave up, cleared the spool, and thought I'd try to get 'another 10million' headers working backwards (this season's TV is more of interest than 3 years ago).
However, I'm at around 100million now, and it's only gone back 3 weeks.

So - is there any way to DL another number - say a billion - without clicking the 10million count button every half-hour? Any registry tweak or some other command (to download from date X to Y, or X to present, for example)?

You could set a "Download Age" of 100. Then right click the group, "Post Storage/Use Download Age". Then download headers normally to get the past 100 days worth.

Then you could repeat with longer "Download Age" each time. Download it 100 days at a time.

You need a beefy machine to display the vast amounts of data in that group. After the headers download, you might want to load the group one month at a time to make it easier on your PC.
