database appears injured

Postby sinkdiver » Fri Nov 09, 2012 7:49 pm

After updating to 6.40 build 2059 on Win7 64 bit, I started seeing odd behavior. Postings for many months ago began popping up each time I entered a group. I'd mark them "old" and have "hide old" as a display option. Leave and come back in - there they are again.

Now over the last week or so, I'm getting incomplete multi-part postings, but when the posting is complete (as listed on binsearch.info and downloaded as a .nzb file) the download fine - no parts missing. But, still showing as incomplete in the group listing several days later. So there seems to be a problem updating SOME postings, but not all.

Finally, today I'm starting to get an error message that "Unable to update data record" always on the same record.

I've even tried "post storage - compact database" with no improvement

Cache is always "88/100" never changes.

What's the best way to fix with the least amount of rebuilding of groups/subgroups?

Or am I missing something trivial?

Thanks!
Sounds like the db is hosed -

What server are you using? Been getting some weird reports from Newhosting users lately.

Typically if the DB's are screwed up, they can't be fixed and need to be purged and headers re-downloaded. I'd try one group, right click "Post Storage/Use Download Age" then set the download age to 30. Then update headers normally and see what happens. See if the last 30 days look better.

I too have just recently updated to 6.40 and I am getting Unable to find download data. Does anybody have any ideas to help?

I'm using Giganews as my only server.

I'll try a test on one group and see what happens.

Thanks!

It appears to fix it - I'll try more and see if all are cured.

Thanks again.

themfm, sounds like something else unrelated to this, off the top of my head. Try setting your download directory to a local folder you have permissions for. Also disable custom unrar locations. Sounds like the unrar process can't find the download data. Other than that, probably need more information. You might want to post to another thread, since it sounds to me it's not header related.
