Filename Options

Postby mkrubsack » Sun Sep 30, 2012 11:08 am

I like how Newsbin creates folders based on the filename options MP3 download path settings.

How can I have Newsbin create the same type of download folders for .FLAC, .APE, or other extension files? Currently, my FLAC files all end up in the main download folder.

Thanks!

I've looked into it. Most FLAC files didn't have the required information last time I checked into it. I can revisit this again to see if that's changed.

Basically Newsbin looks in the file for the ID3 information to make the path. It works as long as the file has this information. Most MP3's do but, most FLAC's didn't last time I checked.

I'll do a survey and see if that has changed.

Flac has it's own tags: http://flac.sourceforge.net/faq.html#general__tagging
.ape (monkey's Audio) as well: http://www.monkeysaudio.com/

Yeah, but most flac files didn't have the actual data in them so, I shelved the project.

I did my survey and can see it's time to support this. I'll get it into the next beta.

Thank you so much for adding this in the next beta release. I said before I'll say it again, you guys are great though other software company/developer listens to Their users uses and is open, like you guys are. Keep up the good work by the way, love the new path options. Keep up the good work

In addition to what I said above I also like the improvements to the optional subscription search service. The wild cards are a huge help
however, you could indexed a a couple of groups that have more rare obscure content, but apart from that everything is good
feel free to PM me regarding the group names

PM Dex your groups.

Improving the search interface it one of the goals of 6.50.

I was just testing flac. Works as well as MP3 mode. Just remember that the percentage of flac files with tags is still significantly lower than MP3. Might want to check to see if they have tags before you report it doesn't work.
