Headers will not import to V6

Postby RandyK » Wed Sep 26, 2012 6:28 pm

Upgraded to Newsbin V6 from V5.4 and cannot import Headers. The Spool file is in the sam folder as V6 but when I choose import headers from v5xx nothing happens. I've checked different posts but nothing seems to help with this. Unfortunatly I'm now on a very slow internet service and it would take forever to reload all the groups. So what now?

Hmm 5.4 to 6.4 is a big leap. I'd probably install 5.59 and then try to import. Then if that works, install 6.40 and then import. I'm going to guess there's too many changes between 5.4 and 6.4.

Thanks for the input. The files in the spool folder are .rv2 extension. I'm not sure if that helps but you may be right on that. I may just have to be patient and update only the groups I use the most. There is a lot of garbage in some of these groups anyway.

If you use a server like giganews or astra, the headers are compressed so, they download at close to 10 times as fast (or they use 1/10th the bandwidth depending on how you think of it).

You could even sign up with giganews for the 3 days trial, get your headers downloaded then lets the trial lapst.
