alt.binaries.boneless not showing posts

Since some eleven days, Newsbin reads the (millions of) headers of alt.binaries.boneless, but shows no posts, which seems very wrong.

Some 14 days ago, there would be a new thread every few minutes, 12 days ago just every few hours, and the last one 11 days and 9 hours ago.

Anyone experience the same problems? Anything I can check?

Check your filters. The things on the top of the post listing. If you see it loading the group (the progress bar) then there should be data.

Also, just to mention it, if you're using a 'free' ISP server, don't be shocked if groups like that disappear. I assume you're using a for-pay usenet server, though, which is highly unlikely to stop carrying the behemoth of usenet.

I turned off the filters, but that didn't help. Now I get to see 433082 threads (I have configured NewsBin to retain 62 days), all of which are between 61 and 11 days ago.

My two usenet providers both support the group and keep feeding me headers. After a few minutes there are more than 10,000 new headers, but not resulting in any new threads.

Might want to purge the group, then set the download age to "60" then do a "download lastest". Maybe the DB is just corrupt. This will make it re-download 60 days of boneless.

Right click the group, "Post Storage/Delete Stored Posts".

That seems to solve it, because I see threads again. Hopefully it will stay that way when it is finished loading 322 million headers...

Considering how much of a hassle that group is, when the header downloads, you might want to make a copy of:

<Data Folder>\Spool_V6\alt.binaries.boneless

This is where this information is stored. If it gets corrupt, you can just copy it back into place and just download headers from the last backup time.
