red marked files dont remove and newsbin stops

Hello,

i use NB 6.0B1 Build 1127. I use Windows XP
I made a clean download.db3. I dont import the spool from V5.

I add some files around 17k (yes real old) the download list.
I return a 403 from news server. Thats may be ok.

Newsbin mark these files with red.
It does threse for ca 100 files and then stops or began to work real slow.
the Network traffic goes to null. newsbin itself react fast and with no problems

if i delete the red marked files from the list, then newsbin continue to work again for ca. 100 files

What can i do, that newsbin dont stop or delete the red marked files from download list?

The retry in the options tab is set to 1

If you add a lot of files that all end up bad or missing, like you describe, it is possible that Newsbin is 'waiting' in error. Basically, there's a look-ahead length, I seem to recall it's a couple hundred or so, in the download list, which is the maximum that Newsbin will look for more chunks to add to the current post. Those pars may be building up and blocking anything else from downloading, and as you mentioned, clearing them out let's it start up again. Quade knows about this, there was some discussion about it - he was thinking perhaps the lookahead could be larger. Personally, I very rarely add a whole mess of stuff that's not there, but agreed, it's a pain to have to clear it out. Certainly most people don't want to add a whole mess of posts on the edge of retention - worse case is you're downloading what blocks you can for no reason, so I can't imagine this is a common experience. I'm not sure where this issue stands at the moment, though.
